Really?!?

Doctor called to bedside stat following a planned extubation

Nurse: He’s failing miserably! He’s desating and is gasping for air despite being on 96% 02 with tusks. Do we need to set up for possible reintubation?”

Doctor: Nah, he’s fine, just get him some water. Walking away. And get him a toothbrush!

Nurse: ???

Two hours later. The same doctor is called to the same bedside stat

Nurse: He’s trying to get out of bed, he’s pulled out his IV and NG tube, and he’s screaming at the top of his lungs, It’s taking three nurses to hold him down and keep him in bed. Can he have some sedation?

Patient: AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! I want to die, kill me now! AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Doctor: Just give him some orange juice, he’ll be fine

Nurse: ???

What? Getting a toothbrush has NOTHING to do with breathing. I don’t understand how some medical providers can be so idiotic.

HAH yes this is all too familiar. I tried telling a doctor something was seriously wrong with my patient on evening, i was told to give the pt a sandwich. What?!?!

the pt passed away, turned out had an infected pace maker!

A sandwich was not going to fix that one!

That’s when the nurse says: “ok, you stay with him a minute & I’ll go get the OJ”; you go get yourself a coffee & stand back & watch…
